Discussing School Violence

Our schools use the Standard Response Protocol developed from the I Love U Guys Foundation, so students and staff know exactly what to do in an emergency. When talking with your child about safety drills, the American Psychological Association recommends being honest that bad things can happen, and reassuring them that many people, including their teachers and school staff, are working to keep them safe.

Harassment/​Intimidation/​Bullying (HIB)

Astoria School District is committed to safe, respectful schools, free from harassment, intimidation, bullying, and threats, so every student can learn and thrive.

Bullying is a serious issue that requires the attention of staff, students, families, and our community. Every Astoria school strives to be free from such behavior and encourages reporting of any concerns.
