Astoria School District Facilities *Updated Meeting Dates*

Astoria School District (ASD) is in the process of evaluating our school facilities. We have received grants to start the process and have hired BLR&B Architects to complete a facility assessment and long range facility plan.

Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, the architects have worked with school staff and a committee including community members, staff, and parents to review education research concerning facilities and student learning, and to thoroughly review our school facility security and current needs.

In 2000, the Astoria community ​passed a bond for district facility upgrades. It is expiring in 2020. The ASD Board of Directors will make a decision in Spring 2018 on whether or not a bond is offered next school year.

As a part of this process, we are asking for community input. Before the Board of Directors decision in the Spring, there are two planned opportunities for community to attend, learn, and share about the current district facilities. 

On Wednesday, February 21, 2018 we will be touring school facilities as part of a special school board meeting. The tour will begin at Astoria High School. Attendees will be transported to Astor Elementary and Astoria Middle School. Please meet in the library at Astoria High School at 5:30 pm.

On Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 5:30 pm, there will be community facility engagement event at Astoria Middle School. The architects will provide a short presentation and lead a discussion to receive input from community members concerning our school facilities. As part of the event, other activities and insights into the facilities will be provided. Dinner and child care will be provided free of charge. All information will be provided in English and Spanish at both events. 

The Astoria School District Board of Directors Special Meeting scheduled for, February 21, 2018 at 5:30PM has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Special Board Meeting has been rescheduled to March 7, 2018 at 5:30PM, beginning at the Astoria High School.  

The Astoria School District Community Facilities Event scheduled for February 22, 2018 at 5:30PM has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Community Event has been rescheduled to March 8, 2018 at 5:30PM, at the Astoria Middle School.
