"A Tradition of Excellence" 2018-2019

Astoria School District Board of Directors in partnership with the Astoria School Foundation is taking nominations for the 4th annual staff recognition program called “A Tradition of Excellence” that recognizes exemplary work by Astoria School District employees. 

Nomination applications are now available online at www.astoria.k12.or.us.   Papers copies of the nominations are also available in each school district building.  Paper copies can be turned into the District Office at 785 Alameda Avenue. Nominations may be accepted by community members, parents, students and Astoria School District staff.  Nominations are due on Friday, April 12, 2019.

“A Tradition of Excellence” will recognize one classified staff member, one certified staff member, and a team collaboration award for their exemplary work.  A nomination committee made up of classified staff members, certified staff members, administrators, and a school board member will review the applications and make selections for the awards.

“A Tradition of Excellence” Classified/Support Staff Member of the Year

The Classified/Support Staff Member of the Year will honor a classified/support staff member who demonstrate excellence in work performance, school and community involvement, and leadership and commitment to our district.  The employee selected must be in good standing within the district.

“A Tradition of Excellence” Certified Staff Member of the Year

The Certified Staff Member of the Year recognizes and honors the contributions of outstanding Certified Staff Members who have demonstrated a commitment to the mission and vision of the Astoria School District.  The Certified Staff Member of the Year also inspires, motivates, encourages and helps students excel in school.  The employee selected must be in good standing within the district.

“A Tradition of Excellence” Collaboration Recognition Award

The ASD Collaboration Recognition Award will honor a group of employees or community members who work together to positively impact student learning.  The ASD Collaboration Recognition Award will be given to a group of employees or community members who are striving to work together to help students meet the mission and vision of the Astoria School District.  In addition the “A Tradition of Excellence” Collaboration Recognition Award will go to a team of employees or community members who demonstrate outstanding teamwork, exemplary work performance, and improve student learning through their collaborative work.

Staff members will be recognized for “A Tradition of Excellence Awards” evening.  The date and place of the awards ceremony is to be determined.  In addition, at the “Tradition of Excellence Awards” evening there will be recognition for anniversary dates of employment with the district (10 years, 20 years, and 30 years). “A Tradition of Excellence” will be an annual event that is sponsored by the Astoria School Foundation.
